John William Moore
Born in St Ives in 1892, John was one of six children born to Joseph, a general labourer, and Martha (née Cox). John's father was originally from Ireland. The family home was at 25 Filberts Walk, St Ives.
At some point John moved to Welling, Kent. He enlisted and was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, East Surrey Regiment. This battalion remained in England throughout the war as a training unit based at Dover.
In 1917 John married Lilian Pike at Willesden. At the time of John's death Lilian was living at 33 Grenfell Place, Maidenhead.
John died on Saturday 13 July 1918 aged 28yrs at Dover from pneumonia. He is buried at St James' Cemetery, Dover.
