The Robin Hood
The Robin Hood, Market Hill, St Ives

There’s no doubt the Robin Hood is right in the middle of St Ives and the hearts of many St Ivians. In 1728 Edmund Pettis recorded two pubs on the site, the Swan & the Angel (hence Wetherspoon’s name). The heart of the building is much older, parts of the roof dating from the 1400s. The current name appeared in 1795, the Angel part of the building to the east occupied by various businesses. The two parts were combined into the current set up probably in 1925. Closed and empty since 2012, there have been periodic rumours of it being sold or reopening.

St Ivians remember:
Many a time in the good old Robin Hood, also many a nasty fight outside!

My dad ate a baker's dozen cheese & onion baps (a bet) & then went home (to Crown Yard) for his dinner.

Remember drinking here in the late 80's and early 90's. Seem to remember Taidgh and Nikki being landlord and landlady?

Worked there for a while. Neil and Sue White were the landlords, they were the best bosses, great sense of humour.

Celebrated my 16th & 17th birthdays in the Robin Hood and was in the darts team for a few years until we moved on to the British Legion. Landlady was from Yorkshire and called everyone 'flower'! Did lovely roast potatoes on darts night. Great days!
