Ted Worts (brother of Wallis Stearn Worts) & son Ernest, 1891. Ted was a castrator, then licensee of The Dolphin in the late 1880s. Tragedy hit the family in 1904 when both Ted & Ernest died of illness. |

All Saints Rovers Football Club, 1907. John W Noble is seated left on the grass, aged 17 years. All Saints Rovers were the football club of the Parish Church. They had a first team & reserves playing Saturdays & Thursdays (half day closing). |

Tom Scotney & Son employees, 1930s. The celebration of William Scotney's 70th birthday (though may have been Golden Wedding Anniversary)

Second row from the front, from the left, fifth along Ken Scotney (Tom's son), six along Frank Woolstenholmes. Third row from front (excluding man standing) from left, fourth along Tom Scotney, then William Scotney (Tom's father), then Mary Scotney (Tom's mother). Fourth row from front from left, seven along Eileen Kitteringham (née Laborne). Scotney's were a timber construction company founded in 1920. In WWII they supplied purpose built prefabricated buildings & special wooden boats for D-day landings. In later years they specialised in packing cases. Competition from the plastics industry caused the firm to close in the mid-1970s. |

John 'Baggy' Reynolds, 1935. John was originally a fowl dresser, preparing chickens & the like for sale & consumption. At the time of this photo, he described himself as an 'all-round farm labourer, working at Westwood Farm. |

A group of farm labourers from the mid to late 1930s. George Lantaff is second from the right, Mr Harradine, the boss, is behind.
George was a farm labourer with the Andersons before working at the chicory factory. He was called up in 1939 and fought in Burma with the 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment. George was killed in action at Budalin on 8 January 1945, aged 33yrs, and is buried at Taukkyan War Cemetery, Burma. |
